Åsa Jäger had a major breakthrough this spring at the Gothenburg Opera as Senta in Wagner's The Flying Dutchman, a role for which she is now being honoured with the prestigious Opera Award from Tidskriften Opera. Get blown away by some of the greatest and most powerful music opera has to offer!

The sound pours out from the stage. It embraces everyone in the audience. You'll feel the bass in your chest and the buzz in your ears - it may sound like a big rock concert, but in fact, the great voices of opera can give these concerts a run for their money without amplification! To prove it, we've hand-picked two of the greatest voices in the Nordic region and given them the best possible conditions in the chamber music hall at HEART. The dramatic soprano Åsa Jäger and the acclaimed Wagnerian singer Jens Søndergaard come together to present some of the greatest and most demanding opera literature has to offer. The intimate hall also gives the audience an opportunity to get up close to both the sound and the singer in this extraordinary operatic discipline.

After the concert, both singers will host a talk where Mads Bille will delve deeper into how a singer works with the voice, what it takes to master the demanding opera literature and open up for questions from the audience.

This talk will take place in HEART's café, where coffee/tea and cake will be served.

The event is presented in collaboration with HEART - HERNING MUSEUM OF CONTEMPORARY ART

On the first weekend of Advent, Allmänna Sången, under the direction of Maria Goundorina, invites you to Christmas concerts at Uppsala Castle. Start your Advent celebrations in a palace decorated for Christmas to the tunes of Allmänna Sången. This year, the choir will sing a mixed programme of classic Christmas songs interspersed with new favourites. The choir will be joined by the dramatic soprano Åsa Jäger, awarded with the Anders Wall Foundation's Giresta scholarship in 2015, and currently singing Brünnhilde in Die Walküre and Siegfried at the Landestheater Coburg. Also participating is pianist Victoria Power, with whom the choir has had the pleasure of collaborating in the past during Christmas at the Castle. Click for tickets.

Om Människan/On Humanity – Show and open workshop

A musical drama is created when the opera score mixes with the improvisation of theatre. A collaboration between KammarensembleN and the opera group "Om människan".

With two plays by the spanish author F. G. Lorca "Om kärleken" (About Love) and "Jehova" as a starting point we want to challenge the audience with questions on authority, submission and how you, depending on your background, identity and life circumstances react to different kinds of oppression.

The 2018 FMT Contemporary Music Festival “Festival Nuovi Affreschi Sonori 2018” will be held between 17-18 August in Bomba, Chieti, Italy in association with Pro loco Bomba. The festival will include new works by composers long associated with the FMT group and the emphasis as always will be to discover the new, and to challenge and widen the boundaries and definitions of contemporary, new and experimental music. Participating composers and musicians will be: Soňa Vetchá (CZ), Simon Berggården (SE), Bence Pinter (HU), Per Svansbo (SE), Fabrizio Rossi (IT), Emelie Sjöström (SE), Daniel Chudovský (SK), Åsa Jäger (SE), Barry Wan (HK), Anders Flodin (SE), Seth-Reino Ekström (SE), Vytautas Barkauskas jr. (LT), Josefin Fransson (SE).

Åsa Jäger has been selected to take part in the semi-finals of the Elizabeth Connell Prize for aspiring dramatic sopranos.
